Orange Tour Licensed Illustrations

The orange tour commission was a tremendous amount of work but, much like the Mars order, I felt like I was given so much creative freedom to work. The Orange Tour is part of Think Orange, a publishing group that creates content and events centered about youth ministry and family.

They were super sweet to work for/with, and when the Orange Tour came to town, the tour actually had my church as a venue! Crazy crazy. They found me through instagram before their tour was going to launch in the fall, and wanted me to illustrate a city print for each city that they would visit. They had a whooole bunch of cities, but wanted me to make them each about 30% simpler than my normal city prints.

All in all, the group needed (i think) 16 total city illustrations, complete and watercolored on a pretty short deadline. AGH. But we got it done! I may not have slept, but it all came together. Here are some of the city prints after being watercolored:

The Orange Tour also wanted a map of everywhere they would go. PROCESS TIME! I always start with paper and pencil (well, until I recently got my ipad and now you will have to pry it from my cold, dead hands), then add ink, erase, scan, vector, print on watercolor paper, paint, scan, vector, layer black-and-white over color, and send off to be printed.

And here are some fun photos of the finished product! These are from the Orange Tour when they stopped in Memphis at my church (Highpoint Church - check us out!)

And a few from the Orange Tour Website!
